The Greatest Zoos in America

My family and I spent another great Sunday at the Bronx Zoo, one of our favorite places.  In my opinion, it's one of the best family destinations anywhere. Saving our planet's animals and preserving their habitats is a noble mission and the Wildlife Conservation Society does an amazing job.  Support your local conservation societies and the global organizations like the WCS. Here are some of the greatest zoos in the United States.

Bronx Zoo - I have to top the list with my hometown zoo in New York. It has something for everyone and no matter how many times we visit, we always manage to see something new.

Animal Kingdom - When we visited Orlando, Florida, we enjoyed the nickname for this theme park, "Natazu," but whether it wants people to view it as a zoo or not, it features an incredible assortment of animals on display, terrific exhibitions, and one of the best safaris anywhere.

San Diego Zoo - If you're in California, you have to check out one of the most popular zoos in the world. It's tagline is "Bringing species back from the brink." It doesn't get much better than that.

Smithsonian National Zoological Park - The "National Zoo" for short is a wonderful place to visit if you're ever in Washington, D.C.

Philadelphia Zoo - America's first zoo is in Pennsylvania.

Columbus Zoo and Aquarium - What a terrific place situated in Ohio.

Audubon Zoo - Part of the Audubon Nature Institute, this park is a highlight for any trip to New Orleans, Louisiana.

Busch Gardens - Here's another marvelous Florida attraction, this one in Tampa Bay, part of the Sea World Parks.

North Carolina Zoo - In Asheboro, 70 miles from Raleigh and Charlotte, it's a good destination if you want to see animals from around the world and learn about the mission to save them.

Cincinnati Zoo - This is America's second oldest zoo, and it features a beautiful botanical garden too.

Houston Zoo - Fun for the whole family in Texas.

Phoenix Zoo - If you're in Arizona, check out this park voted one of the top five zoos for kids.

St. Louis Zoo - Missouri has a great zoo, taking care of 18,000 animals.

Zoo Miami - This Florida zoo does a really fine job of creating a topnotch visitor experience.

There are plenty more across America.  Which are your favorites?
