Even though Dick Clark has passed away, he leaves an inspirational legacy behind. People always praised him for looking so young, as if he had found the mythic fountain of youth, but looking at pictures of him through the years, it's not that he didn't age, it's just that he conveyed a vitality that made him seem forever young.
He accomplished so much in show business -- American Bandstand, TV's Bloopers and Practical Jokes, the $10,000 Pyramid gameshow, and the American Music Awards.
He was a hard worker who, even after a severe stroke in 2004, focused on his rehabilitation and continued to work, still making appearances on his New Year's Rockin' Eve annual event from Times Square on ABC. The torch for the show will now likely be officially passed to Ryan Seacrest, but Clark's spirit will still linger, reminding us all of the great man who was there year after year helping us say goodbye to the old and hello to the new. May he rest in peace.
