The Great Jack-o-Lantern Blaze

Written By Unknown on Sunday, October 2, 2011 | 7:43 PM

On Saturday night, my family and I went to the Great Jack-o-Lantern Blaze at Van Cortlandt Manor in Croton-on-Hudson, New York.  My two year old daughter loved it (after a few seconds of apparent caution).  We had taken her last year, but now she's definitely getting old enough to appreciate it.

Over 4,000 carved pumpkins are on display, designed in truly spectacular dioramas.  The Manor House itself is covered in jack-o-lanterns and illuminated with multi-colored lights, timed to spooky music.  Following the path, visitors discover new surprises at every turn -- a giant cobweb and dozens of spiders, skeletal dinosaurs, creepy snakes, a graveyard of zombie hands emerging from the gorund, pirates, witches, a swarm of bees around a hive, scary cats, a dragon, a giant gorilla on top of a roof, and much more.

If you're looking for a fun Halloween-themed activity during the month of October, check out the Blaze.  Certain nights are already sold out, so get your tickets now.
