We had a great time today at Applefest 2011 in Franklin, Pennsylvania. Over 300 vendors, arts and crafts, delicious food, terrific entertainment, and a jubilant crowd all added up to a joyous atmosphere. The weather was perfect and the town was picturesque (the main road, full of crowds and closed off to traffic, reminded of Disney World's Main Street USA).
My wife had candied and caramel apples. My mom and dad went back for more apple cider. The band played my favorite Beatles tunes and coincidentally was playing "New York, New York" when we arrived. There were classic cars and attractions for kids. My sister and brother-in-law gave us a tour of some of the historic houses and some local cannons that are the remnants of a monument to an old garrison.
It's going to be sad to leave on Monday.
