Preparing for Hurricane Irene

Written By Unknown on Friday, August 26, 2011 | 11:25 AM

The image above is a shot of Hurricane Irene photographed by Astronaut Ron Garan from the International Space Station.  That monster has already stormed through the Caribbean and is threatening the East Coast of the United States.

Whether or not it lives up to its dangerous hype or turns out to be a dud, it is already playing havoc with my fair city.  A theater fundraser that I was planning to co-host has been postponed.  My Sunday plans look like they're cancelled.  Mass transit in the city will be shut down beginning noon on Saturday.  It's already a mess and the rain, flooding, and furious winds haven't even hit us yet.

The prognosticators are predicting fallen trees and power outages.  I'll do my best to post a daily blog entry as always, but in case I have no electricity I beg your patience and will continue as normal once everything is restored.  Hopefully, no damage will be done and all will be right with the world.

Stay safe, everyone.
