Before the
recent trend of stories based on fairytales, before
Once Upon a Time and
Grimm, before
Mirror Mirror and
Snow White and the Huntsman, there was the excellent comicbook
Fables. Still written by Bill Willingham, the comic continues to tell some terrific stories based on classic characters like Red Riding Hood, Pinocchio, Jack the Giantkiller, the Big Bad Wolf, and others.
In celebration of the anniversary,
Comixology offered half-priced digital issues of the series.
If you've never read it, catch up with
the graphic novel compilations. I'm still hoping for a live action adaptation -- until then I'll look forward to the
video game version.
